LAKE RUSSELL CAMPGROUND
îThe Nancytown group camping area is close by and is available by reservation only. Hikers can enjoy a variety of trails in the area; the Lake Russell Trail originates at the recreation area, and the Ladyslipper Trail and the Sourwood Trail originate at the group camp entrance.
îFishing for bass, bream, perch and catfish is popular.
îLocust Stake OHV Area is close by.
Clarkesville, Cornelia and Toccoa are nearby and are interesting to visit.
îDirections: Take Ga. 365/U.S. 23 North from Gainesville past Cornelia to Hwy 197. Turn right for approximately 3 miles until dead-end. Right on Dicks Hill Parkway for approx. ¾ mile. Turn left onto the paved Lake Russell Road.
îSite Amenities: Loop through the recreation area is paved. This recreation area has bathhouses with hot showers; municipal water, trailer dump station and well-maintained campsites are available to lake Russell campers. No electricity available at this time. Campground host resides in area.
îRequirements: Area is open from mid-April thru October. Fees are required. This area is open 24 hours a day for campers use. Special fees apply for the group camping area.
îRecommended Seasons: Spring through fall for camping, yearlong for fishing and boating.
